The world is a nice, big place with several hidden cities to visit and everybody should take some time out to see the various destinations. However, there are some places in the world that are notoriously famous for being dangerous for tourists. Here are 7 cities of the world that you must not travel to without a safety weapon:

Caracas, Venezuela:

The capital of Venezuela, which is one of the most beautiful country in South America, Caracas is famous for having a very bad reputation because of the many drug gangs that rule the city.

These gangs partake in mugging and theft and make it a very undesirable place for those who wish to travel to the city for some sightseeing. It is important that you have your wits about you while visiting the city. Venezuela has other cities too that suffer from a similar problem.

Cape Town, South Africa:

You can call Cape Town the beauty spot of South Africa, like literally. The place is just as dangerous as beautiful it is. This is because Cape Town is home to many people living under the poverty line and the crime rate is very high in the city. There is always some sort of social unrest and people are always looking to target tourists.

Avoid travelling to the city at night.  South Africa is known to be a great country with some amazing sights, best of which are in Cape Town. The city is safe during the day and it is the best if you retreat by around 7-8 pm.

Rio de Janeiro:

Though Brazil has other cities that are more dangerous than Rio, this city features in our list because it is one of the most well-known cities in the world and one of the most sought after travel destinations. Rio played host to the World Cup finals recently but that doesn’t make it any less dangerous. The beaches of Rio are very beautiful and though the crime rate has come down, it is still a hotspot for criminals, especially during the night hours.

Guatemala City, Guatemala:

Guatemala is one of the best Caribbean destinations and is famous for its stunning and beautiful beaches as well as its world class coffee. However, there are parts of the city that are best avoided if you want to have a good time. The city is known to have a high murder rate. Besides, drug peddling and bus jacking are very common in this area.

Acapulco, Mexico:

Acapulco was once considered to be one of the safest places in a dangerous country like Mexico. Eventually, the drug gangs found their way here too and the city has become very dangerous for those who wish to travel. Though the city is really beautiful and tourists can have a good time if they are careful. It is advisable that you don’t move out alone at night, don’t speak with strangers lurking in corners and never get into a dispute with anyone.

Baghdad, Iraq:

Though Baghdad is considered by many as one of the most historical cities of the world, due to the extreme violence in the city marred by gunfire, bombings and killings, the city has been on the American list of “Cities not safe to travel to” for years. With American troops retreating from the city, Baghdad’s future is uncertain and it is best advised not to travel to the country.

San Pedro Sula, Honduras:

Considered by many to be the most dangerous place on Earth, San Pedro Sula has the highest homicide rate for any city. With a rate of about 169 per 100,000 people, the city has forever been known to be the most unsafe city and it is best if you gave it a miss or alternatively venture out someone who knows the area in and out.
