Knowledge about it plays a key role in making you aware about the road safety. For this thing, Road Safety Week is celebrated every year in India with tremendous enthusiasm. It is celebrated in various cities of the country such as Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Baroda, Vadodara, Pune, Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad, Chandigarh etc. The 2016 Road Safety Week is from 11th January to 17th January.

What Is Road Safety Week

It is a whole week celebration where people are encouraged about driving like how to drive in various situations. Apart from this, people got to know about the safety measures that should be kept in mind while driving. Wearing of seat belt, use of helmets etc are such things involved in this discussions.

How It Is Celebrated

The celebration is very interesting as people get the information in a smart and engaging way. You will see various drawing and painting competitions, exhibitions, road safety announcements, workshops, seminars, debated on road safety by All India Radio. Free medical checkup camps, road safety quiz to promote the safety on roads. For children, the week becomes unforgettable as they learn about road safety through various games like puzzles, card games, board games, traffic safety games etc.

According to a survey from WHO, each year, road traffic injuries take away lives of 1.2 million men, women and children around the globe. The death toll is higher in the countries like India where the motorcyclists and passengers lack the safety norms.
